A Complete, Energy-Efficient Home Renovation in Hucclecote, Gloucester
A full renovation on Duncroft Road, close to our Hucclecote base.
This project transformed a tired property on Duncroft Road, Hucclecote into a warm, efficient and low-maintenance modern home. Being just around the corner from our own base in Hucclecote, it’s a Gloucester renovation we’re especially proud of. The work went far beyond the finishes you can see, with every mechanical service in the house upgraded from the ground up. Here is how it came together, from first strip-out to final fit.
The Finished Home
Underfloor heating runs throughout the home, powered by a Samsung air-to-water heat pump. To get the most from it, 50mm Rockwool insulation was installed around the complete internal perimeter and within every internal partition wall, improving both warmth and sound insulation between rooms.
An airtight internal envelope was created using DuPont Tyvek membranes. That airtightness is what allows the home to run a Vent-Axia MVHR system with integrated cooker extraction, delivering a constant supply of fresh, filtered air while recovering heat that would otherwise be lost. New energy-efficient double glazing was fitted throughout, helping the home hold its heat.
Both bathrooms feature Mira shower valves, flush tiled shower trays and space-saving pocket doors. Engineered oak flooring was fitted in the bedrooms, with tiling throughout the rest of the home, an ideal match for the underfloor heating.
Thoughtful touches make the home easier to live in and maintain. The loft has a boarded storage area with easy access to the cylinder and mechanical services, and individual lever isolation valves let the hot and cold feed to each room be shut off on its own. The garage includes a dedicated utility area sized for two 600mm appliances, plumbed with power, water and drainage. Outside, the property gained a porcelain patio, a concrete driveway with a generous gravel parking area, and an external power socket and water tap.
